Born from bamboo. Born for ceremony. A symbol of the austere philosophy of chanyou.
Description
The matcha whisk is a symbol of the beautifully austere philosophy ofchanoyu. Its design has remained unchanged since the codifying of the Japanese tea ceremony, making it a lasting testament of tradition.
First, it begins with a bamboo stalk. Harvested in its third year in the winter, it then is stored and aged for another year, further developing its durability. Then, it's softened and peeled. The artisan laboriously whittles the piece, carefully splitting and curling the tines by hand into 16-120 spokes. The more spokes, the higher the quality.
100 spokes.
Made in Japan.
