Among one of the oldest tea families in Pinglin, Mr. Feng and his father have shifted to exploring new possibilities beyond the rote ‘Qingxin’ variety Bao Zhong style that established his family’s name. A young producer with new techniques, stock and expressions, where others have stagnated, Jason has adapted and evolved his tea making. The competition in Pinglin for Baozhong styles alone is so inundated that it is easy for the progenitors to get lost in the sheer amount of imitation—not so for the Fengs, who continue to innovate the appellation.
