Meet Derek, our dedicated Production Assistant, who's been lighting up the Spirit Tea team for the past two years.

What is your favorite experience in your role? 

Just getting to know all the teas and how they taste and how proper brewing really makes a difference.

What are some methods you use to stay grounded?

Cooking a nice meal is something I find grounding for me, as well as being on my bike and playing a round of golf. 

What time of day do you drink tea?

I enjoy tea at all times of the day to be honest, but I usually start my day with something I've brewed at home.

What is your favorite tea from Spirit Tea collection?

My favorite tea is probably our Ambrosia or the Thai Wild Black. I'm a big black tea fan. Our greens are a close second, the Kodama Sencha is one of my favorites I've made with the cold brew method. 

Describe how tea makes you feel in one word and why.

Tea makes me feel at ease with the day and what's ahead.

What has been the most valuable lesson you've learned during your time here?

Probably that when you have the opportunity to work for a company that truly appreciates their employees from the top down, it's a game changer. Spirit certainly has hit that on the head. We have such an amazing team because of it.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

I'm a huge music/art/movies fan! Love to cook with my partner and love my bicycle! I know it's not cool, but it makes me happy... I recently got back into golf with a few friends.
