Thailand, with its tea industry in relative infancy, has been producing tea for nearly 60 years. The high mountains of Santikhiri, meaning “peace hill,” in the northwestern province of Chiang Rai, provide the perfect terroir for the crop to cultivate. Formerly from Nantou, Taiwan, Mr. Ming transplanted the traditions of his homeland’s tea culture into the region’s burgeoning tea industry. Our dear friend has transformed the native Taiwanese cultivar, Ruan Zhi No. 17, into a succulently-sweet black tea that transcends both traditions and taste. Notes of hawthorn berries, cotton candy, and mead.
