Lei Kou Chai was created when its mother tree, Zhi Lan Xiang was struck by lightning, splintering some of the branches and sending the plant into its last thralls. Before the tree could die, enterprising farmers took cuttings and replanted them along the sandy soil and sloping cliffs of Fenghuang Mountain. This lot comes from one of our favorite Phoenix producers, Eric Chan. By request, he's applied a more delicate roasting profile so that the tea harbors much more of its original aroma when brewed. Look for a decadent fruit note to accompany a big body and lingering floral finish.
