Jin Guan Yin is a relatively new style of oolong created by grafting Tie Guan Yin onto Huang Jin Gui rootstock. The husband and wife team of the Wangs have been quietly creating some of the most fragrant oolongs in the region. Their farm is situated in the hills about an hour west of Anxi. Less than sixty kilograms of Golden Buddha were produced this year. After initial bruising, the tea is placed in a cool, climate controlled room to help the aromatic compounds remain embedded within the rolled leaves. This creates an extremely buttery mouthfeel with a floral bouquet, carrying the euphoria of spring time.
