During the meticulous process of crafting Gyokuro, all stems and twigs are removed, separated and then sorted. The stems, which only constitute 5-10% of the material are then used to produce a rare and delectable finished tea called Karigane.
This Karigane comes to us from Kobayashi-san, our favorite producer of Gyokuro in Japan. Coined Shiragane, this stem tea is processed, blended and finished from some of the best hand-picked Gyokuro leaves in the tea fields of Kyotanabe, Japan. This is a very limited selection, so no bulk ordering is available.
Naturally low in caffiene, nutty, and rich with amino acids - Shiragane is a real treat.
